Earlier this month, several innovative educational projects were recognized during the Brinksma Innovation Grant (BIG) award ceremony at the University of Twente. While the main prize this year went to the team behind ReflectBuddy, an AI tool that reviews student reflection reports and offers improvement suggestions, there was also notable recognition for strong proposals from the ITC faculty.
Florian Ellsäßer, Carissa Champlin, and Johannes Flacke were nominated with two promising initiatives. Florian Ellsäßer presented TulipAssess, an AI solution designed to support teachers in grading student work. Carissa Champlin and Johannes Flacke submitted an interactive digital platform that brings together multiple stakeholders to explore future scenarios for the city of Enschede, focusing on themes such as climate change, housing shortages, and heat stress.
Although the award went to another team, the nomination highlights ITC’s innovative strength in the field of educational development.
