Receiving a scholarship to study abroad can be a life-changing experience. Some of the worlds best and brightest have had the opportunity to discover endless possibilities through scholarships.

The Faculty ITC of the University of Twente aims to attract students to its international classrooms who are eager to engage with what is happening in the world and use their skills to make our planet more sustainable. For that reason, it has established several scholarship programmes specifically designed to offer talented and motivated international students from developing countries the opportunity to pursue an MSc degree at ITC in the Netherlands in Spatial Engineering or Geo-information Science and Earth Observation.

Scholarship programmes

Below we have listed some of the scholarship programmes for ITC programmes.

ITC Excellence Scholarship Programme

ITC Excellence Scholarship Programme ITC offers a number of partial scholarships for intake in its Master’s Geo-information Science and Earth Observation.

In a competitive procedure, scholarships will be allocated to students with excellent previous study results.

Applicants must be residing in and being a national of a country listed on the OECD approved List of Recipients of Official Development Assistance.

ITC Scholarship Loan Scheme

A number of partial scholarships combined with a partial student loan are available from the ITC Scholarship Loan Scheme, which will be awarded to applicants with a very good academic track record.

The ITC Scholarship Loan Scheme is available for professionals applying to the Master's Geo-information Science and Earth Observation

Applicants must be residing in and being a national of a Lower or Upper Middle Income Country and Territory listed on the OECD approved List of Recipients of Official Development Assistance.

ITC Scholarship for Spatial Engineering

The ITC Scholarship for Spatial Engineering Programme offers a number of partial scholarships for intake in the Master's Spatial Engineering.

These scholarships are available to students with a very good academic track record.

Applicants must be residing in and being a national of a country listed on the OECD approved List of Recipients of Official Development Assistance.

MENA / MSP Scholarship Programme

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Programme (or MSP) funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers scholarships to professionals from ten countries (see the eligible country list here). The scholarships can be used for short courses, with a duration up to 90 days, in the Netherlands.

Orange Knowledge Programme (Diploma and short courses)

The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) (the former NFP) is a scholarship programme funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is targeted at professionals from selected developing countries who, after their studies in the Netherlands, will be able to further develop and strengthen the organizations at which they work. The majority of ITC's programmes is eligible for OKP/NFP.

How to prepare for a scholarship application?

Do your research

To avoid putting pressure on yourself and trying to apply for that scholarship you desperately want at the last minute, start your research early.  

Check if you are eligible

Another important element you want to consider early on is finding out what scholarships you are actually eligible for - because you will not be eligible for them all.

Get accepted first

Before you can apply for a scholarship you should be fully admitted to the University. Apply online through the university website.

Include all required information

Make sure you have all of the information that the scholarship provider has requested of you in your application.

Don't miss the deadline

Remember, late applications won't usually be considered. Applying for a scholarship can be a quite an endeavour so start early!
