Kaan's story

My goal is to implement precision agriculture techniques and promote sustainable practices that will benefit our agricultural sector.

Nice to meet you

Hello everyone! I am Kaan from Türkiye, and I am currently pursuing my Master's study in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation program at the Faculty of ITC, University of Twente. I am working on Crop Water Productivity for my thesis.

I graduated with a degree in agricultural engineering in Türkiye. I am here with a scholarship from the Turkish government, and as part of the scholarship requirements I need to study on precision agriculture. Therefore, I decided that combining my bachelor's knowledge with GIS would be great. This consideration led me to choose ITC, one of the best faculties in this field.

my experience

My journey at ITC has been amazing; studying for a Master's at ITC is really exciting. Getting taught by the best professors in the field has contributed a lot to my academic growth. Also, the multicultural environment at ITC has given me the chance to learn about other cultures and make friends from all over the world.

When it comes to living in the Netherlands, the weather may not always be perfect, but being here feels amazing! I always feel safe and at peace. Also, the Dutch people are incredibly friendly and helpful, which speeds up the adaptation process. Besides, the opportunity to explore both The Netherlands and Europe has allowed me to gather unforgettable memories.

my scholarship

Thanks to a scholarship from Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Education, I've had the opportunity to study abroad in my field. This program invests in successful Turkish students by sending them abroad for their education, to have them return and serve the country after graduation. This scholarship has given me to gain valuable knowledge and skills.

my thesis

ITC plays a crucial role in guiding me for selecting a thesis topic that aligns with both my interests and the requirements of my scholarship. This research focuses on remote sensing to monitor crop water consumption. By analyzing this data, the project aims to provide insights for maximizing crop yields while minimizing water consumption.

Future plans

Looking ahead, I'm excited to take what I've learned at ITC back home. After I graduate, I plan to work for the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. My goal is to implement precision agriculture techniques and promote sustainable practices that will benefit our agricultural sector.
