Become a high-skilled geospatial professional

PROGRAMME: Geoinformatics (2010)

“This degree in Geoinformatics has helped me to secure a good opportunity during my service period and now I am working as head of the Digital Cadastral Unit Banepa, conducting cadastral work in the digital environment.”

Getting the chance to study for a master’s degree in Geoinformatics at ITC was my great opportunity. At that time I was an instructor at the Land Management Training Center (Government of Nepal).

Experience and current work

I obtained my master’s degree in Geography from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2007 and gained my master’s degree in Geoinformatics from the University of Twente (ITC) in 2010. This course has helped me to secure a good opportunity during my service period and now I am working as head of the Digital Cadastral Unit Banepa, conducting cadastral work in the digital environment. My office is the only organization in Nepal that conducts cadastral work in the digitally (GIS) based environment. I hope in future this type of survey is going to apply in all cadastral units in Nepal.

Advise

I am grateful to ITC for giving me this career opportunity. My future plan is to gain an MSc degree in Land Administration, which will help me to integrate land administration and geoinformatics and so provide better service to the public. I would like to advise prospective students thinking about studying at ITC to seize the opportunity to become a competent technical professional in the geo-information sector.
