MODELLING AND MONITORING

Symposium, Excursions & Inaugural Lecture Prof. dr. Mark van der Meijde

One of the main resources for gaining knowledge on processes is through observations and monitoring. Through fieldwork, laboratory analysis or from space, it all adds to our knowledge and understanding of the, sometimes disastrous, processes we are facing as a society.

Todays symposium is highlighting the importance of fieldwork, monitoring, and modellig of this information. Each talk will address a unique side of monitoring and data collection and will focus on findings that were only possible because of significant investments by researchers to collect this data. The speakers cover many aspects of earth science data collection, from subsurface, over surface data collection to the most exotic air- and space-borne observations. If you were ever wondering what geophysics and an albatross have in common, then this is your symposium!
