More than 1 million for equality of opportunity and inclusion in academia
NWO is making 1.3 million euros available for innovative research proposals into the development of new interventions or the implementation of existing ones for an inclusive academic culture.
Different perspectives and backgrounds facilitate new ideas and creative thinking, and lead to a deeper and better understanding of the problems we tackle. Diversity in research projects encourages innovation and facilitates inclusive research with a worthwhile and sustainable impact. NWO invests in diversity and an inclusive academic culture by tackling existing patterns, structures and processes so that researchers from underrepresented ethnic groups (Dutch nationals with a migration background from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean region, the Middle East, Central and South America and Turkey) are able to gain access to and progress within academia.
With the call Advancing Equity in Academia through Innovation, NWO is making funding available for this. The intended outcome is a more inclusive academic culture in which everybody is valued, regardless of their ethnic background. [click to continue reading at the NWO page]
