EO4all

Inclusive Earth Observation for All (EO4all) is an initiative founded by EO women scientists at ITC. The initiative aims are to enhance ITC's visibility in the EO community and policy fields, advance EO science, promote gender equity (inclusion) and diversity, and support student intakes and project acquisitions led by women from new partnerships and target groups.

The initiative brings together academic and support staff from various departments with different career paths, experiences, and expertise, as well as alumni from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It is our principle to promote gender equity and inclusiveness in Earth observation and Geoinformation and we welcome support from our affiliates that share our ideas and concerns and voice us around the world.

EO4all is a response to current EU strategies for gender equality and diversity, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, UN, NWO, ministry of education, VSNU, LNVH and KNAW to showcase ITC leadership in EO as an institute that values gender equality and diversity and expands its global reputation beyond capacity development.

EO4All Launches Mentoring Program for Earth Observation Enthusiasts

Roshanak Darvishzadeh new co-chair in LNVH Sounding Board Group

As of 31 May, Roshanak Darvishzadeh (associate professor at the Department of Natural Resources at ITC) and Maartje van Gelder (UvA) will take over the chairwomenship of the LNVH Associate Professor Sounding Board Group from Gerry Jager (WUR). Roshanak Darvishzadeh and Maartje van Gelder will then assume the responsibilities as co-chairs and will lead the sounding board group meetings twice a year. During these meetings, the sounding board group will offer advice and input to the LNVH board on topics particularly relevant to women researchers in the associate professor career phase.

EO4ALL contributes to the QGIS User Conference and contributor meeting in ‘s-Hertogenbosch

The QGIS User Conference (UC - https://uc2023.qgis.nl/) was a two-day in-person conference featuring presentations and workshops for getting up to date with the latest QGIS facts and features! This event, usually held annually, was the first after the covid pandemic. Therefore, there was great expectation, and 200 participants worldwide attended it. The ITC ingenuity project EO4all contributed to both events with the participation of Rosa Aguilar as member of the Local Organizer Committee.

Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) - University of Twente is among the leading partners in a new European Space Agency-funded project to monitor crop response to multiple stressors using new Earth observation satellite data (EO4Cerealstress).

Inaugural lecture Prof.dr. Wieteke Willemen

On Sept 23 2022, Prof.dr. Wieteke Willemen gave her inaugural address. In 40 minutes, surrounded by 80 heather plants and a world viewer-statue, she talked about space, ecosystem services, connections, Bertolt Brecht, patterns and breaking patterns.
