Prof. Alfred Stein of EOS department, Faculty ITC, University of Twente and Prof. Jorge Mateu (Universitat Jaume I, Castellon, Spain) organized and chaired this conference https://www.elsevier.com/events/conferences/spatial-statistics/about, which was attended by 200+ partipants, in Sitges (Spain).

A special issue of Spatial Statistics entitled 'Towards Spatial Data Science' (also the theme of this conference) will be compiled based on the research presented at the conference.
