ILWIS 3.4 Open - July 2007
As per July 1st, 2007, ILWIS software is freely available ('as-is' and free of charge) as open source software (binaries and source code) under the 52°North initiative (GPL license). This software version is called ILWIS 3.4 Open.
Please note that ILWIS support by ITC has been stopped. For support, go to the ILWIS discussion list at the 52°North web page.
Patch 3.31 released - June 2007
ILWIS 3.31 is a service pack on ILWIS 3.3. It is the last service pack made available by ITC. With this, ILWIS 3.3 is enhanced with new functions and bugfixes that were developed after the release of ILWIS 3.3, but that were not yet made available as an official service pack. ILWIS 3.4 Open is derived from ILWIS 3.31; in ILWIS 3.4 Open, copyrighted components were removed in order to be able to offer it as open source software.
What's new?
- Hydrologic Flow Operations : Parallel drainage correction over flat surface, cut terrain, Flow Length to Outlet, Flow Path Longitudinal Profile
- Spatial Multiple Criteria Evaluation (SMCE): Contour maps, view standardized version of a criterion
- Projections: Hungarian projection, Mercator Scaled projection
- Classify operation: Spectral angle classifier
- Import/Export: Export .PRJ file
- Some bugs have been fixed
Notes:
- To download patch 3.31, please refer to the ILWIS 3.31 Update download page.
Announcement - February 2007
ILWIS open source and free of charge per 1st of July 2007
ILWIS software will be made freely available ('as-is' and free of charge) as open source software (binaries and source code) under the 52°North initiative (GPL license) as per July 1st, 2007.
- Until July 1st 2007 new users are required to pay license costs in order to use ILWIS after the 1 month free trial period.
- After July 1st 2007 new users can obtain ILWIS without any license costs.
ILWIS 3.3 released - September 2005
ILWIS 3.3 is released as shareware in September 2005. It is an upgrade of ILWIS 3.2, released in January 2004. ILWIS 3.3 contains new functionality and some bug fixes.
The new functionality includes:
- The SMCE application is extended with overlay of reference maps, combination of spatial and non-spatial MCE, and interactive function graphs for standardization,
- New applications for DEM hydro-processing are implemented, like topological optimization, drainage network extraction, catchment extraction, horton statistics etc.,
- Georeferencing now supports up to 8 fiducial marks, sub-pixel precision and 3D coordinate transformations using 7 or 10 datum parameters,
- Import and export using the GDAL library,
- Projections for geostationary satellites,
- Calculation and statistical functions for map lists.
To download ILWIS 3.3, please refer to the ILWIS 3.3 download page.
Patch 3.21 released - October 2004
What's new?
- Extensions in Spatial Multiple Criteria Evaluation: Slicing, histograms, aggregated values, and an improvement in class map standardization.
- Improvement in calling external executable files: Now supports parameter passing, wait-till-finished option and error handling, and even inclusion in a script as part of a batch process.
- GeoStationary Satellite projection: Supports coordinates for images from the MeteoSat-8 satellite.
- Some bugs have been fixed
Notes:
- To download patch 3.21, please refer to the ILWIS 3.2 download page.
ILWIS 3.2 released - January 2004
ILWIS 3.2 is released as shareware in January 2004. It is an upgrade of ILWIS 3.1, released in April 2002. ILWIS 3.2 contains new functionality and some bug fixes.
The new functionality includes:
- Spatial Multiple Criteria Evaluation (SMCE)
- Hydrologic Flow Operations
- Find Datum Parameters Wizard
- GARtrip import
Patch 3.12a released - August 2003
What's new?
- ID Grid map: ID Grid map is a new application that creates a polygon map given a coordinate system and an attribute table. The polygon map consists of rectangular grid cells with a unique ID and can be linked to a table with attribute data when sample data is available (e.g. biodiversity data in 5x5 km blocks).
- Spherical Distance: A Spherical Distance option was added to the operations Spatial Correlation, Cross Variogram, Nearest Point, Moving Average, Moving Surface, Kriging and CoKriging. The Spherical Distance option calculates distances over the sphere instead of in a plane.
- Export to ArcPad .PRJ: ILWIS coordinate systems can now be exported to an ArcPad .prj file.
- Some bugs have been fixed.
Notes:
- This patch is only for ILWIS Academic users. To download patch 3.12a, please refer to the ILWIS 3.1 download page.
- PCI ILWIS users are most welcome to contact PCI Geomatics.
Patch 3.11 released - September 2002
What's new?
- Aster import: Aster satellite images level 1a and 1b can be directly imported into ILWIS, including all needed geometric and radiometric corrections. This functionality is integrated in the Import Map Wizard.
- Stereopair from DTM: The Stereo pair from DTM operation creates a stereo pair from a single raster map and a Digital Terrain Model (DTM). These stereo pairs have the same usability as the Epipolar Stereo Pair.
- Some important bugs have been fixed
Notes:
- This patch is only for ILWIS Academic users. To download patch 3.11, please refer to the ILWIS 3.1 download page.
