Competition information

The following photographs are from earlier editions of the ITC Sports Day and from another venue (artificial soccer field). In 2024 we will use an artificial hockey field. You are advised to visit the venue yourself to get acquainted with the surface(s).

Soccer

The duration of the game is 10-20 minutes. Teams shall have 4 players on the field, and 1 goalkeeper. Each team may substitute players freely. There will be no change of sides during the match. Teams are requested to provide one (player as) referee to supervise matches when their team is not playing (to release the volunteers). Teams will receive a one-size-fits-all vest per match to be distinguishable from the other team but it is recommended to design/bring your own team outfit. The surface is artificial grass especially for hockey.

A foul occurs if a player:

  1. Holds, kicks, trips, charges etc. an opponent (direct contact)
  2. Handles the ball (except by the Goalkeeper within Penalty arch)
  3. Plays in a dangerous manner
  4. Slides, tackles
  5. Impedes the progress of an opponent (“obstruction”), or
  6. Prevents the Goalkeeper from releasing the ball from the hands

Ranking

With equal number of points in the league standings the following criteria apply:

  1. Number of competition points, if equal then
  2. Goal difference (goals scored minus the number of goals conceded), if equal then
  3. Mutual result, if equal then
  4. Number of goals scored
  5. Least # goals conceived in the match with the Champions
  6. Most # goals scored against the next ranked opponent

Volleybal

Counting

We play rally-score system for 10 minutes (finals 15 minutes). When the end-signal is given, the point is played to the end. If after that point the teams’ scores differ by one point or less, the game continues until a 2-point difference is reached.

Rules

  1. In general, the official indoor volleyball rules apply.
  2. First named team plays to the left of the referee. No change of sides during game.
  3. First named team starts to serve.
  4. 6 players on the field. Unlimited substitution allowed, as long as ball is not in play.

Have fun!

Qualifications for final

Each round robin (pool) game results in a winner. Wins are added up and teams are ranked. If two teams have equal points, the winner out of their direct competition is ranked higher. If several teams are ranked equally, the total score ratio is determining the order.

The best two teams then play the final for 1st and 2nd place. Ranking of lower ranked teams does not change.

Rules

A team consist of two members. The objective is to throw/roll a metal ball as close as possible to a small target bal. The small target ball is first thrown by one of the teams (alternating). Next the members of the opposing teams throw in a special alternating sequence their metal balls as close as possible to the target. When all metal balls are thrown, scoring is decided. A point is scored by the team having at least one ball closest to the target. Each ball of the same team closer than the first ball of the opponent adds another point. A match is won after a certain time period (10-30 minutes). In case of equal number of wins, the sum of points determines the ranking (a win gives positive points of the difference, a loss gives negative points difference).

In case of disputes about the final ranking by two participating teams, the organisers might decide to have a final throw-off in which ALL TEAMS participate. One member of each team can throw just 1 ball to a target and the distance of each of the team balls decides on the ranking. This might lead to totally new rankings!!!! So count your blessings ;-)

Running

The 40 meter is organised on artificial grass. The start and finish is measured with electronic timing. The track is open from 4PM-5.15PM. You can participate on the spot, without (pre)registration. Athletes can try to improve their best time as often as they like (but usually after 3 attempts we see no improvements). The fastest 3 females, males, girls and boys qualify for their finals. Finals are schedule at 5.30 PM and determine the official 40m Champions.

The 1600m is organised at the end of most team competitions between 5.30 and 6 PM. Registration is open on the venue until 1 minute before the start. All participants (female, male, girls and boys) will start simultaneously. In case these 4 categrories have multiple participants, ranking and prizes per category will be handed out.

Back to School activities

The Student Association Board organised alternative Back to School activities like Lemon spoon race, sackrace/Kangaroo, can toss game, koekhappen etc. Participation is open for everyone without registration.

Demonstration sport: Box cricket

Like in the Olympic Games, the ITC Sports Day offers the opportunity to organise demonstration sports. In the past we have organised for example track&field, korfbal and frisbee. In 2024 we organise together with the student community: Box Cricket. Come and enjoy the alternative version of the sport which is actually the 2nd most popular sport in the world (2.5 bilion ethusiasts).
