ITC supports GEO - the Group on Earth Observations - by a virtual secondment

To support the GEO Secretariat, ITC has offered a virtual seconding to the Working Group Capacity Building (CB) for the duration of two years, one day a week. The role will be fulfilled by Joost Teuben, Senior Policy Officer CB at ITC. He supports the Working Group CB of the GEO organization as of June 2018.

Joost Teuben: “We acknowledge the importance of international collaboration in this domain. I am confident that this role may contribute in the exchange of knowledge between organizations, specifically when it comes to measuring and visualizing impact in line with the SDG’s. There are a lot of great initiatives all over the world, for which we can provide a sharing platform to inspire each other.”

ITC is a participating organization in GEO; The Group on Earth Observations. GEO is a partnership of more than 100 national governments and over 100 participating organizations that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations. Dedicated task teams execute the multi-year work programmes of GEO, supported by a small secretariat based in Geneva, and ITC is co-chair of the Working Group Capacity Building, ensuring and documenting the societal impact of the GEO programmes, projects and activities.
