The ITC Library is a specialised scientific library on Remote Sensing and GIS (Geographical Information Sciences). The head of the library is Drs. Katinka Jager-Ringoir. The library is open to all students and staff and supports the education and research at ITC. Upon request also outsiders can visit the ITC Library.
Information about the collection can be found in the Library Catalogue: FindUT. This automated catalogue, contains bibliographic data on books, periodicals, congress proceedings, reports, reference books, theses, maps and Audio Visual Materials (AVM). The ITC Library collects the complete scientific output of the Institute and makes this visible to the outside world. The catalogue is accessible via internet. Besides the catalogue, the library provides full access to many other specialized data sources.
The library offers training courses for learning information skills for all students in ITC. For MSc students 'Research Skills' are offered. We support staff and students with their personal information management by introducing software called EndNote. Especially for Phd Students it is necessary that they master the skills to find relevant information to support their research. The Library organizes special sessions for PhD students.
The web page Services to Alumni gives an overview of the possibilities for ITC Alumni. Distant students get support from the Library too.
When you wish to borrow books or articles presently not available in the ITC Library, there is the possibility of Inter Library Loan (ILL). All inter-library loan articles will be added to the ITC library collection as reprints.
ITC students need to bring their UTwente student card to borrow books and to extend loan periods. Reservations can be made online. The standard loan period for books, theses, maps, AVM materials, reprints, and annual reports is 4 weeks; extension of this period is possible unless there is a reservation for the publication. Journals, reference books, lecture notes cannot be borrowed.
For information and help on using the different information sources and their possibilities please contact the library staff members or Library student assistents at the library information desk.
