Exploitation of EO for water management in the Mediterranean
The 6th TCBF Training Course was organized by TUD in Frascati (Rome), Italy in cooperation with the EMWIS-SEMIDE. A total of 13 professionals were trained from several governmental organizations (e.g. Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, National Remote Sensing Center). The training programme included lectures on the state-of-the-art in Earth Observation and interactive sessions, theoretical lectures on remote sensing and practical exercises on remote sensing of water management.
The materials and training provided to the participants by the trainers from TUD, ESA and other participating institutions were very well received. The atmosphere during the lectures and workshops was informal and very pleasant setting the basic requirements for an effective three-days training session. This can also be concluded from the evaluation. All the participants found the course valuable and 90% participants informed that they will recommend this kind of advance training to colleagues. Based on the evaluation and the feedback session, a list of requested topics was formulated for further training sessions. Furthermore, informal discussions between the lecturers and participants as well as among the participants themselves led to new ideas for cooperation, additional trainings and research projects.
