In 2013, the Alcantara initiative supports six cooperative research projects based on TIGER achievements.

The Alcantara initiative is part of ESA's General Studies Programme and focuses on cooperation between research groups in Europe and those based elsewhere, in study areas of mutual benefit. Within the context of TIGER, Alcantara is supporting African scientists selected from the TIGER network to carry out research work for one year within European research institutes.

The following 6 Alcantara research projects have started at Delft University of Technology and the University of Twente (faculty ITC) in November 2012. The projects will be completed in March 2014.
