Recognition & Rewards Festival

The second edition of the Recognition & Rewards Festival will take place on February 4th, 2022. We would like to invite everyone who is interested in the Recognition & Rewards Programme. We will discuss the opportunities, challenges and dilemmas of culture and system change with you. Additionally, we offer you several workshops focusing on specific elements of recognising and rewarding academics differently.

The festival will kick off with a plenary session in which we share insights, experiences, and examples from the past year. We will take a moment to reflect on our achievements and discuss what still lies ahead. The Festival will then continue with a focus on the subject of ‘teams’, starting with a round table discussion about teamwork, team spirit and team assessment. We will then split up into groups in which participants can discuss these subjects in more depth.

After lunch, attention will turn to a number of dilemmas. How does the Recognition and Rewards Programme influence our international position? What do we include and exclude when assessing research applications? Also, which existing financial incentives strengthen or undermine the principles that underlie the Recognition and Rewards programme? We will discuss these dilemmas in subgroups.

The festival will end with another plenary session, in which we evaluate the input provided and reflect on the discussions of the day.

The Recognition & Rewards Festival is an online event, participants will be able to contribute online. The language used at the Recognition & Rewards Festival will be English, and admission will be free.

The festival is organised by the Recognition & Rewards Programme, a partnership between the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres (NFU), the Dutch Denominational Universities (NLU), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), Universities of The Netherlands (The former Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw).
