TIGER looking after water in Africa

In addition to the many standard courses offered, ITC provides training courses designed specifically to meet client requirements.

The client and ITC agree on the required topics and timing, and the courses are run at ITC’s headquarters in Enschede or at the client’s premises. It is also possible to combine tailor-made training with modules from academic degree courses. These modules are held at fixed times on the academic course calendar and can offer a cost-effective training solution.

The TIGER Capacity Building Facility (TCBF)
TIGER aims at developing sustainable Earth Observation (EO) information services for integrated water resources management with a focus on Africa. One of the main activities within this initiative is the support to water-related research in the region. Fifty selected projects form the research component of the programme, carried out by African and north-south research teams. Since September 2006 their work is supported by the TIGER Capacity Building Facility (TCBF), which is responsible for setting up a capacity building and training programme in support of the research.

Working out the detailed programme of the Facility is an iterative process between ITC, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the participating African research groups.
