Each of these Methodological Demonstrations (MD) or exercises assume the use of QGIS 3.x and are organized in at least three folders: DATA_TO_DISTRIBUTE - this is the folder to be given do the STUDENTS; ARTICLE - the chapter of the book www.taylorfrancis.com that is behind the MD. This should also be given to the students; FINISHED PROJECT - this is a QGIS project showing the end result. To be used as a REFERENCE; There are 6 MD in total. They vary with respect to how advanced they are and what topics are covered. Below an overview of what to expect | NAME | LEVEL | ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE (max)* | GIS TOPICS COVERED | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chap_7_Nicosia | very simple | 1H | Styling; join by attribute; diagrams | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chap_10_Enschede | simple | 2H | Styling; diagrams; using photos; editing attribute table. | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chap_15_Arnhem_Nijmegen | advanced | 4H | Styling; field calculations; buffer; intersections; dissolve; spatial join; geometry simplification; node extraction; normalization | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chap_18_Jakarta | medium | 3H | Styling; grid generation; spatial join; coverage analysis; visual analysis; distance analysis. | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chp_13_Christchurch | medium | 3H | Styling; field calculations; weighted averages; spatial sql; sensitiviy analysis | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | chp_19_Kigali | advanced | 6H | Styling; rasterization; raster combinations; raster calculations; slope map; raster clip; no data values; normalization; suitability and cost surfaces; multicriteria analysis; automating workflows and modeling; zonal statistics. | +-------------------------+------------------+-----------------------------------+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ * Without tutoring. With tutoring (meaning the exercise is intercalated with further explanations and questions) the necessary time may increase substantially.
