Thermal Session at 2012 EARSeL Symposium

EARSel's SIG-TRS is organizing a thermal infrared session during the 2012 EARSeL Symposium again. The planning currently entails an oral session hosted by Claudia Kuenzer and a number of thermal infrared contributions for the poster session. For information on the Symposium programme, keep an eye on the Symposium website. For questions specific to the thermal session, you can contact Claudia.

Thermal Infrared Day at GRSG London 2009

EARSeL's SIG-TRS and the Geologic Remote Sensing Group (GRSG) of the Geological Society of London jointly organized a meeting on thermal infrared during the 20th annual general meeting of the GRSG in London December 15-17 2009.

For this purpose GRSG's annual meeting had been extended by an extra day in order to host full day talks on thermal infrared topics. The focus of this year's event was on "Exploration" in the widest sense. The event was well visited . Talks on the third day included applications of the thermal infrared to geologic mapping and mineral exploration as well as progress in field and lab spectroscopy in the thermal infrared. Several talks were on airborne hyperspectral TIR systems with contributions from the Aerospace Corporation (SEBASS) and ITRES (TASI).

Below you will find the final flyer of the event. For more info, please visit the website of GRSG.

Thermal Session at 2009 EARSeL Symposium

From 15-18 of June 2009 the 29th EARSeL Imaging Europe Conference was hosted in Chania, on the beautiful Greek island Crete.
Thermal Session: During this conference, SIG-TRS organized three thermal sessions with contributions spanning from Urban heat islands over coal fire detection to mapping silicate minerals with hyperspectral, thermal sensors. We were happy to welcome two participants from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory: Mike Abrams and Glynn Hulley. Mike also chaired one of the thermal sessions and updated the participants on the status of ASTER, as well as new developments in thermal sensors at JPL.

During the symposium an informal SIG-TRS meeting was held in order to brainstorm on ideas and possible upcoming events. The outcome of this brainstormin will be circulated via mailing list soon.

We thank all contributors who made this syposium and the thermal sessions a success. We are already planning the next events. You will be kept informed via this website and our mailing list.
