Scientific manuscripts that graduate students prepare for publication in ISI journals, peer-reviewed journals/books that meet ISI standards, and as a PhD thesis are expected to meet the publisher's required standard of English. Where the supervisor/promotor is satisfied that the scientific content is sound but the English requires improvement, he can approve 'light English editing' by a professional editor, with expenses to be met from the PhD budget of the graduate student.
