When registration in the graduate programme is due to end, the graduate student
is required to make the necessary exit arrangements. Most of these are
specified on the "clearance form" which is available from the
Graduate Programme Secretary, from whom additional guidance may be sought.
Completing clearance procedures in a timely fashion is important because
various forms of graduate student support
(fellowship payments, student accommodation, health insurance, access to
facilities, validity of residence permit, etc.) are applicable only until
the specified registration termination date.
The registration termination date depends upon the phase of study
when the decision to terminate registration is made.
End of phase 0 (qualifier)
One week after completion of research progress report form (or equivalent) advising unsuccessful qualifier examination.
Post-qualifier research (phases 1-3)
One month after completion of annual research progress report form (or equivalent) advising unsatisfactory progress and/or one month after the promotor-designate advises that he is withdrawing his supervision; this period is inteneded to accommoate the opportunity for the PhD student to state his/her position and to complete exploration of alternatives to termination.
End of phase 3
One week after PhD is awarded.
When registration in the Graduate Programme is terminated, a (former) graduate
student is automatically registered as an alumnus or alumna of ITC.
