   Note: the material in this reprint dealing with the statistics of accuracy assessment have been refined and formated as a a technical note.

1. GAPS (substantial enhancements and revision, V2 1991): A general-purpose simulation of the atmosphere-soil-crop system. Interactive (including run-time graphics) and batch versions. Object-oriented crop model framework written in Turbo Pascal 5.5, 6, 7 and 9 (Delphi).

   November 1996: Conversion to a Microsoft Windows program, using Borland's Delphi 2.0 Developer for Windows 95 and the ChartFX 3.0 OCX from SoftwareFX. Implementation of inter-species plant competition, as an object hierarchy.

2. ALES (V1 1988, V2 1989, V3 1991, V4 1993, V4.5 1994, V4.6 1995) - Automated Land Evaluation System: A framework for land evaluation computer systems; a shell within which land evaluators can build their own expert systems to perform land evaluation. Includes an interface to the IDRISI GIS and xBase files, including PC-Arc/Info and ArcView maps. Written in ISO Standard M (a.k.a. MUMPS). with DataTree (later purchased by Intersystems) extensions for MS-DOS.
3. New York State College of Veterinary Medicine, Information Systems: subsystems for data entry, record keeping, report generation, and query processing for Histopathology (1978), Pharmacy (1980), Radiology (1981), Necropsy (1981); electronic mail system and user access control (1983). Written in ISO Standard M (see link under ALES, above).

Peer Reviews

Peer reviewing is one of the most important activities for the collective scientific enterprise. Unfortunately reviewers usually get no time for this activity and no credit from their employer in performance reviews. Something has to change in this system.
