There will be a post-Seminar tour on Saturday 4 November 2000 to the Villa Escuedero Plantations and Resort, a one hour drive from IRRI. Experience the allure of the Philippine countryside at Villa Escudero and tour the 800-hectare coconut plantation on carabao (water buffalo) drawn carts. Visit the Escudero Family Museum within the estate and view a private collection of artifacts and souvenirs. Warm Filipino hospitality is experienced when guests are feted to a barrio (village) fiesta. The swimming pool, fed by a natural spring, is the best place to cool down after a cruise on the river on board a bamboo raft. Its most unique feature is lunch at the waterfalls where guests eat a sumptuous lunch while their feet are dipped in the cool waters of the Labasin Falls. A cultural show will be held after lunch.
