Advanced Optical EO: land cover, water quality
The second training course was held on 14-20 October in the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), Nairobi, Kenya. It was followed directly by a one-day TCBF progress meeting.
The objective of the training course was: To introduce the most advanced physical EO methods applicable to ESA data with focus on land cover and water quality.
The most important topics were: Data acquisition/distribution via DDS; Atmospheric correction; Land cover and land cover change; Mapping irrigation areas; Time series analysis; Water quality remote sensing theory, exercises and case studies. ( Detailed programme here)

Staff members of eighteen of the twenty TIGER projects and the three Regional Offices participated on the training. One representative of each was financed by the TIGER Capacity Building Facility (TCBF), but there were some projects, which were financing more participants from their own resources. Thirty participants completed the course and received the certificate.
