Yijian Zeng received his PhD cum laude on 16 February 2012. His PhD research focussed on analysing coupled transport of moisture and heat in soil, with consideration of airflow mechanism.

His research interests include:

• Two-phase heat and mass transfer
• Parameterization of land surface processes
• Climate change impacts on hydrological cycle
• Energy, mass and gas exchange between land and atmosphere
• Data assimilation
