Gabriel Parodi is an Argentine professional hydrologist with a vast experience in watershed and surface water management, structural water control in flatlands and GIS and remote sensing in hydrology. He holds a civil engineering degree in hydraulics from the University of Buenos Aires, several postgraduate diplomas in structural engineering and an MSc in water resource management and earth observation from ITC.

He has worked for many years at the National Institute for Agricultural Technology (INTA) in Castelar, Buenos Aires. His former department of Clima y Agua at INTA is one of the main sources of remote sensing studies in Argentina. At that time he specialized in agro ecology applied to water control. Remote sensing analysis was the basis of the symbiosis between plants, soils and water.

At present, he is coordinator of the basic remote sensing for hydrology educational block in the Department of Water Resources at ITC. He is also an experienced international lecturer, and has given courses on remote sensing hydrology in universities and research centres in Asia, Europe and America with a focus on the application of remote sensing and GIS for water resources management, catchment modelling and operational EO products.
