The master course will focus sequentially in the data acquisition and analysis, as well as the planning and management of the natural resources principally in its two components: land resources and water resources.
The master programme is organised in 15 modules divided as follows:
- seven common modules
- six specialisation modules
- one research module (Individual Final Assignment).
Its main objective is to prepare professionals with high skills technically and scientifically in the regional development and planning that will thus allow them to apply and develop methods and techniques in the decision making for the sustainable management of the natural resources (specifically in land and water resources), individually or as a part of a team using the remote sensing and the geographic information systems as a tool in achieving this goal already mentioned.
Specific objectives for the specialisation in water survey
At the successful completion of the course the student is expected:
- to perform inventory of the water resources with integral watershed development point of view
- to analyse and evaluate the water resources with the emphasis of the quantity and quality of the superficial water
- to evaluate the sedimentation and erosion hazard, inundation risk, sediment production and environmental watershed degradation
- to apply aerospatial survey techniques in order to study and evaluate the hydrological processes
- to apply geographic information systems in order to acquire, analyse and present the hydrological data
