Earth observation sites

Netherlands, Lattrop site

ITC earth observation site for research and education

The set-up of the Lattrop COSMOS site is in progress with good support from the municipality of Dinkelland, the COSMOS sterrewacht and Natuurmonumenten.

In 2006 staff members of ITC (Wim Timmermans, Ambro Gieske, Ben Maathuis, Chris Mannaerts, Jan de Leeuw and Bob Su) have looked for a suitable location for measurements, and found the location of the Cosmos observatory in Lattrop. The reason for choosing this location is that the area has a patchy landscape with meadows surrounded by high trees, a forested and agricultural landscape typical for Twente and the nearby available facilities of the observatory. The municipality of Dinkelland is supporting the initiative.
