Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management

Special mandate

UNU_ITC

Additionally to its mission, the department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management has the special mandate to manage ITC capacity development activities related to land administration, including the activities to be realised under the United Nations University (UNU) agreement that makes the ITC a UNU Associated Institution for developing and carrying out a Joint Programme on Capacity Building in Disaster Management and in Land Administration, and the dissemination of knowledge on these and directly related issues.

Capacity development activities related to land administration are realised through a School for Land Administration Studies, created in 2005 as a joint effort from ITC and and the Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency of The Netherlands, in the framework of the ITC-UNU agreement. The focus of the School will be on both scientific (concepts, models, methodologies) and professional (operations, management, governance) aspects of land administration.
