Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad for Yijian Zeng
Dr. Yijian Zeng of the Water Resources department has been awarded the 2011 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed (non-government sponsored) Students Abroad from the China Scholarship Council.
The award is set up to honor overseas Chinese students with outstanding academic accomplishment. Developed in 2003, the awards are based on academic merit and encourage international students to achieve first-class results during their studies.
Yijian Zeng has been awarded in recognition of his PhD research on coupled dynamics in the soil and its application in land data assimilation system, under Prof. Bob Su's supervision. Fifteen awardees out of 35 applicants studying in the Netherlands received the award at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, on 22 June 2012. In total, this award has been presented to 495 Chinese students pursing study abroad in 29 nations this year.
To be applicable for the Chinese Government award for outstanding self-financed students abroad, the student must be studying a PhD degree, be under the age of 40 and self-financed (non-government sponsored).
