Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Management
New MSc and Diploma courses IIRS, India
New MSc (18 months) and PD Diploma (10 months) courses on Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk Management are offered at IIRS, Dehradun. Both courses are jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS, Dehradun) and Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente.
The aim of the courses is to strengthen capacity in India in the field of spatial information and earth observation techniques in the identification, mapping and monitoring of natural hazards and the quantification of vulnerability and risk in order to prevent and reduce damage done to society.
The course can be considered as a continuation of the former Joint IIRS-ITC courses on Geo-Hazards. The new designed course will follow closely the curriculum of the regular ITC course with the same name. The MSc student will visit ITC for three months in the period March to May. Both courses start on 27 September 2010.
