Development of GIS Industry in China and Introduction to SuperMap
Abstract
The Geo-information industry in China has experienced a rapid development in recent 20 years. The total market volume is about 9 billion USD in 2008 and keeping growth at an average rate around 20%. There are more than 10 thousand companies involved in this industry, employing more than 400 thousand people. The GIS technology development in China has gone through from introducing international technology to forming its own independent innovative technology. Some GIS enterprises have successfully developed many GIS packages with their own technology and brand names. SuperMap is one of the most successful GIS platform software products.
SuperMap Software Co., Ltd was founded in 1997 by a group of GIS experts and researchers, dedicated to developing and providing the most innovative Geographic Information System (GIS) platform software for the worldwide customers.
