PhD Day

ITC provides an excellent environment for high quality research in Geo-information science and Earth Observation. More than 150 students have successfully completed their PhD studies so far and are propagating their knowledge and techniques across the globe. At this moment over 100 PhD students are registered in the ITC graduate programme. This achievement is only possible as a result of the strong commitment of ITC to research, the support of our partner Universities and the high quality PhD researchers who engage in multidisciplinary research topics of international standard. In order to share their results, the ITC PhD students organize a one-day conference, the PhD day. This year’s PhD day is on Tuesday 1 June.

The conference is organized by a committee consisting of ITC staff and members of the ITC PhD Community (IPC) with the support of the ITC Bureau Research Coordination.

We have succeeded in lining up 12 PhD students in their mid/end of track, who will be presenting their results, as well as a number of poster presentations. Also, three eminent keynote speakers are included (see preliminary programme).

The PhD day is a unique opportunity to enjoy "work in progress", and to take part in the discussion on the way forward for the PhD's. We challenge not only the fellow PhD's, but also ITC staff and MSc students to join the programme in great numbers. Particularly MSc students that are interested to persue their own PhD are encouraged to attend.
